What We Cover

Defense and diplomacy. Trade and tariffs. The domestic politics that shape American power abroad and the foreign developments that shape American life at home. Our readers work in government, finance, defense, and the professions. They do not need to be told what to think. They need reporting and analysis that respects their time and their intelligence.

How We Work

News coverage is factually rigorous. Analysis is clearly labeled. Opinion is honest about what it is. We do not pretend to be neutral, but we separate what happened from what we think about it.

We cover the world through the lens of American interests. Every country's press does this. We do it without apology.

We are skeptical of government claims (American and foreign), international organizations, NGOs, and corporations. No sacred cows. We will praise sound policy regardless of which party proposes it and criticize poor policy on the same basis.
